Palak Paneer (mild)

Palak paneer is traditionally a North Indian curry made with soft cubes of paneer (fresh farmer’s cheese) simmered in a smooth purée of spinach (palak), aromatics, and gentle spices. Be that as it may, it is now found all over South India and we decided to include Palak Paneer predominantly because it is a beautiful dish, but also to serve as a reminder of the transient nature of great cooking. We make it mild, but packed with flavour. A beautiful start to your Feast!

History & cultural background

While not traditional to South Indian cuisines, palak paneer is now widely eaten across South India due to:

  • Pan-Indian restaurant culture

  • Urbanisation and migration

  • Demand for familiar vegetarian dishes

You’ll find it commonly in:

  • Restaurants in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra

  • Wedding catering menus

  • Hotels serving mixed regional cuisine

We decided to include Palak Paneer predominantly because it is a beautiful dish, but also to serve as a reminder of the transient nature of great cooking.
